Description
Ridgeway Methodist Chapel is a Non-Conformist chapel built in 1806, with later remodelling and extensions added in 1901. It is constructed from ashlar coal measures sandstone, featuring ashlar dressings and a Welsh slated roof. The main structure is wide and consists of two bays, with a gabled front facing the road. A plain band course connects the gables, which are topped with crocketed finials at the corners.
The chapel has an advanced central porch with a gabled front, also adorned with copings and finials at the corners, and a band course linking the bases of the finials. The central doorway features a semi-circular arched head with a keyblock, double panelled doors, and a semi-circular arched fanlight with Y-tracery glazing bars. A plaque indicating the date of the porch's addition is set within the apex of the gable. On either side of the porch are tall semi-circular headed windows, each with keyblocks and Y-tracery glazing bars. The apex of the main front displays an inscribed plaque that reads 'WESLEYAN 1806'.
