Description
The gatepiers and gates to the Church of All Saints in Old Glossop were built in 1837, likely by the architects Hadfield and Weightman. They are made of limestone ashlar and feature cast-iron gates. There are four tall square panelled gate piers, each with moulded bases and shallow pyramidal caps. In the center, there is a pair of carriage gates, and on either side are single pedestrian gates, although the gate to the right has been removed. All three gates include fixed side panels with principal uprights and knops topped with gradated multi-knop finials. The gates themselves have spear-headed finials and are designed with top and dog rails that are cusped. This structure is included for its group value with the Church of All Saints.
