Description

This is a mid-17th century house, restored in the 19th century with 20th-century extensions to the rear. It is constructed of coursed millstone grit with ashlar dressings, and has stone slate roofs with coped gables and kneelers. There are two chimney stacks, each with three diagonally set shafts on weathered bases.

The house has an L-shaped plan with a double-gabled front. The front elevation has quoins and a regular two-window range, with chamfered bands marking the first and second floors. The central doorway is set within a chamfered four-centred arch and has an original studded door, flanked by single four-light cross-mullion windows. Above the doorway is a blocked chamfered window, flanked by single four-light cross-mullion windows. Above these, in the attic, are single three-light cross-mullion windows to each gable. A recessed fire bay on the extreme right has a single two-light cross-mullion window, with a small arched stair window above.

The left return is rendered and has a single 20th-century casement window to the first floor, along with a flat-roofed extension to the left. The rear, also rendered, features a single-story 20th-century lean-to extension and irregular 20th-century windows.

The interior retains ovolo moulded ceiling beams to the ground and first floors, along with two inglenook fireplaces, one of which is blocked. The roof structure includes side purlins with collar and ridge pieces.
