Description
Sandy Lane Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with various later alterations. It is constructed from coursed gritstone rubble, featuring gritstone dressings and quoins, and has a stone slate roof with stone gable end stacks. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with the southern bay being a later addition.
On the west elevation, there is an original doorcase to the south, which has a large, cambered-topped lintel but is now partly filled by a 20th-century window. Adjacent to the north is a later blocked doorcase, which is also filled by a 20th-century window. Further north, there is a 20th-century inserted doorcase with a plank door and a 2-light flush mullion window. Attached to the south is a recessed later addition that features 20th-century garage doors. Above this, the original house has one 2-light flush mullion window to the north and a similar 3-light window to the south. There is also a 20th-century 3-light mullion window above the garage door. All the windows have glazing bar casements or fixed lights.
