Description

Hilltop Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1669 and 1690, with alterations made in 1801. It is constructed from coursed gritstone rubble, featuring gritstone dressings and large quoins. The roof is made of stone slate, with stone gable end stacks, a stone ridge stock, and stone coped gables that have moulded kneelers. The building is two storeys high and has three bays.

The southern part of the farmhouse, built in 1669, has a six-light recessed and chamfered mullion window, with a 20th-century plank door inserted into the central lights. To the south, there is a two-light square sectioned mullion window with a dripmould. Above this, there is another six-light recessed and chamfered mullion window, with a datestone on the north side just under the eaves, inscribed 'WC NA GM 1669'.

Attached to the north is the house built in 1690, which features a quoined central doorcase with a staff moulded surround and a lintel inscribed 'CHG 1801', topped with a staff moulded semi-circle. To the south of this section, there is a four-light recessed and chamfered mullion window, and to the north, a 20th-century two-light chamfered mullion window. Above, there are two two-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows, with a datestone between them inscribed 'WG IG 1690'.
