Description
Numbers 36 and 38, along with an outbuilding attached to the north, are a pair of houses likely built in the early 19th century, as indicated by their appearance on the 1841 Tithe Map. They are constructed of coursed rubble and feature stone slab roofs, with red and black brick ridge stacks. The buildings are two storeys high, each designed with a single unit plan that includes rear service areas. Side stairs are located against the end walls, positioned behind and to one side of the front entrance. Each house consists of two bays; the entrance bay has no window above it, while the other bay contains windows set under stone cambered arches. Both houses have 20th-century two-light casements throughout. The doorways are topped with large stone lintels, and the doors are half-glazed. The outbuilding, which was formerly another house, is set back and has a lower roof level. It is also two storeys tall, with one ground floor and two first-floor windows that are blocked but still retain their stone surrounds and mullions. There is one doorway with a later window to the right, and some original window openings can be found at the rear.
