Description
Burrows Hall Farmhouse, dating from the early 18th century and altered in 1765, is constructed from coursed squared sandstone and red brick. It features plain tile roofs with brick gable end stacks and a brick ridge stack, along with a dentilled eaves band. The building is L-shaped and has two storeys.
The west elevation consists of two bays with a central doorway that has a 19th-century wooden surround and flat hood, leading to a 19th-century panelled door. On either side of the doorway are 3-light wooden casement windows with segment heads. Above, there are two similar windows with a datestone inscribed "S.D./1765" between them, indicating the brick refronting. The lower courses of this elevation are made of stone, as are the side and rear walls.
To the left, the return wing has a blocked doorway on the ground floor, which features chamfered stone quoins and a lintel, flanked by 2-light chamfered stone mullion windows. Above this, there is a large 3-light segment-headed wooden casement window. The east elevation includes a chamfered stone plinth with a 2-light chamfered mullion window in the basement. The central doorway here has a stone lintel, and above it is a tall staircase window with 19th-century margin light glazing.
Additionally, there is a garden wall to the west topped with rounded stone copings.
