Description

Ford House Farmhouse and Ford Hall Farmhouse are attached farmhouses that date from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. They are constructed of squared, coursed sandstone with pink sandstone dressings and have a 20th-century tiled roof. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic and feature two bays on the left and three bays on the right, along with a partial outshut to the rear right and additional structures to the rear left. Large quoins are present, and there are 20th-century doors in the second and fourth bays, set within quoined early 19th-century surrounds that have plain lintels. All front window openings have similar surrounds with projecting sills. Ford Hall Farmhouse, on the right, has 16-pane sash windows and a 12-pane sash above the door, while Ford House Farmhouse on the left has 20th-century casements in the same style. A string course runs above the first floor, with an eaves band and cornice. Brick stacks are located at each end and on the ridge between the second and third bays.

At the rear, the outshut features a three-light mullion window. The main range has two mullioned windows, each with two broad lights, which are now bricked up. The left return has two blocked window surrounds at mid-floor height, both dating from the 18th century and consisting of two lights, along with a short loading door to the attic that has been converted into a window. The interior has not been fully inspected but includes an arched fireplace and recesses on the ground floor in the far right room, as well as small panelled wall cupboards and transverse ceiling beams in the same room.
