Description

Banktop is a 17th-century farmhouse located in Onecote, Ford. It is built from coursed and squared rubble with ashlar dressings and features a clay tile roof with coped verges on kneelers, along with integral brick end stacks. The building reflects the local vernacular style and consists of a range of two rooms: a hall to the west and a parlour to the east, with a short rear wing that houses a pantry and staircase. The entrance leads directly into the parlour.

The farmhouse has two storeys, with three ground floor windows that have hood moulds and two first floor windows. The windows are mullioned, featuring rebated surrounds and chamfered mullions. The left windows have four lights, the ground floor window to the right of centre has three lights, the ground floor right window has one light, and the first floor right window has five lights. There is a central boarded door with a hood mould, stepped down to each side.

To the right, there is a low mid-19th century extension that includes a boarded door and a casement window. Inside, there is an original plank and muntin partition to the west of the entrance, with doorways at each end leading to the hall and the staircase and pantry. The hall features a stone flagged floor and 19th-century kitchen fittings, along with a closed well staircase. The roof has five trusses that define six equal bays, with principal rafters and chamfered tie beams.
