Description
Hilltop Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse located on the north side of Ashbourne Road in the parish of Kirk Langley. The building is constructed of red brick with a plain tile roof, featuring stone-coped gables with plain kneelers and brick gable stacks. It has two storeys and a double range plan, with brick bands marking the first and second floors.
The south elevation consists of five bays, with a central 20th-century lean-to porch and a half-glazed 20th-century door. On either side of the porch are early 19th-century three-light casement windows with segmental heads, while beyond them are blocked 18th-century windows also with segmental heads. The first floor has five early 18th-century windows, with the outer ones blocked and the inner ones fitted with casement windows.
The rear elevation features two segment-headed casement windows on each floor, along with an intermediate staircase window that is partly blocked. The west elevation displays decorative blind windows. Inside, the farmhouse contains two inglenook fireplaces, and the attic stair is adorned with early 18th-century turned balusters.
