Description
Brookside Cottage is a Grade II listed building that consists of three cottages now combined into one. It dates from the 17th century and the mid-19th century. The structure is timber framed with brick infill and features a thatched roof with two brick ridge stacks and a brick plinth. The cottage has box framing and an outshot to the north, and it is a single storey plus attics with an irregular four-bay south elevation.
On the left side of the south elevation, there is a three-light casement window. To the right, a doorway is topped with a 20th-century gabled hood supported by brackets, leading to a plank door. Further to the right, there is a large 20th-century casement window and a 20th-century lean-to conservatory. The building was partly raised in the mid-19th century in brick, featuring three gables and a jagged brick band. The west gable end and the west end of the outshot display exposed box framing and three two-light casements.
Inside, there is a passage along the north side. The two ground floor rooms at the west end have exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces, and there is one upper cruck truss.
