Description
The Gables is a house dating from the late 17th century and the 19th century. It is built of brick painted white, with plain tile roofs and a single brick ridge stack. The gables are stone-coped and feature moulded kneelers on the main part of the building. The house has one and a half to two storeys and is designed in a T-plan.
On the south elevation, there is a gabled bay on the right side, which has a chamfered plinth and elaborately moulded stringcourses at the first, second, and attic floor levels. Both the ground and first floors have two wooden cross windows, each set under gauged brick arches. Additionally, there is a two-light window in the gable. To the left, there is a lower 19th-century wing that is set back and includes a lean-to porch, a tripartite casement window on the ground floor, and a similar two-light window above in a gabled dormer. The east elevation retains part of the elaborately moulded stringcourses.
