Description
Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th century, with early 19th century and late 19th century alterations. It features close studded timber framing, sandstone ashlar, and red brick, with some areas cement rendered. The roof is covered in plain tiles and has two external gable stacks, one ridge stack, and one eaves stack. The building is L-shaped and has two storeys.
The rear wing includes two bays of close studded timber framing on the upper floor and part of one interior stud partition, suggesting it may be a remnant of a much larger 16th century house. The front range was rebuilt in the early 19th century, but the south gable end wall retains large ashlar blocks. The east elevation has three symmetrical bays and is cement rendered. There is a central doorway with a semi-circular top and fanlight, with a 20th century door flanked by glazing bar sash windows, and three similar windows above.
Inside, the staircase features stick balusters and reeded newel posts, with reeded surrounds for windows and doors. The room on the right has a dado and a marble chimney piece.
