Description
Inn Farmhouse is a former coaching inn known as the Scarsdale Arms, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features Welsh slate hipped roofs, along with two brick ridge stacks. The building has a moulded stone eaves cornice and a stone sill band at the first floor level. It stands two storeys tall with an east elevation comprising five bays. The off-centre doorway has a channelled stone lintel and a half-glazed door. To the right of the door is a glazing bar sash window under a channelled stone lintel, with a similar window to the left. There is a blocked doorway to the left and another similar window beyond it. The upper floor features five similar windows, two of which are blind with painted-on glazing bars. The north elevation mirrors this two-bay design and there is a lower wing at the rear. Inside, the entrance hall is adorned with Minton tiles, and there are panelled doors and a stick baluster staircase. The upper rooms contain plain 19th-century chimneypieces, one made of Hoptonwood Stone, while the ground floor features Adam style chimneypieces sourced from other locations.
