Description

Farmhouse. Dating from the late 17th century with an early 19th-century addition and minor alterations, the building has a red brick exterior with brick dressings and plain tile roofs. It features large brick ridge and south gable stacks, and a plain brick band between the storeys. The house is two storeys high, although the 19th-century addition is taller and arranged in an L-plan. The east range has a lobby entrance plan and consists of three bays, with an advanced gabled bay to the west. A central doorcase contains a flush-panelled door and a two-light casement window to the east, both set beneath segment-headed arches. A similar three-light window is located to the west, set within a cambered brick arch that breaks through the brick band. Further west is a gabled bay featuring a two-light casement window under a segment head. Above this, a matching window is positioned with a brick band above it, and to the east, two blocked square windows flank a central small square opening. The 19th-century addition to the south of the gabled bay incorporates glazing bar sashes in segment-headed openings. Interior features include visible timber framing, a revealed cross wing partition, ceiling beams and joists in the hall, a fireplace with a corbelled lintel, and a wooden fireplace in a left-hand room.
