Description

Corner Farmhouse is an early 18th century farmhouse with an addition dating to around 1880, and minor later alterations. The 1888 wing is constructed of red brick with painted stone dressings, a plain tile roof, brick gable stacks, and a dogtooth eaves band. The original early 18th century wing is partly rendered and partly painted brick, with brick dressings and a plain tile roof, featuring a large central brick ridge stack. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with the original wing consisting of two bays and a lobby entrance plan, and the later wing, to the north, comprising three bays. The northern wing has a central doorcase with a plain stone lintel, a flush door, and a plain overlight, a plain sash window under a stone lintel to the west, and three similar windows above. The early 18th century wing has a segment-headed doorcase with a 19th-century glazed door, and two-light segment-headed casement windows on different levels, either side. Above are two similar windows, the one to the south having a sliding sash, and the one to the north a small opening casement. The rear elevation features a lean-to addition with shallow upper windows. Internally, there are large inglenook fireplaces with chamfered bressumers and low chamfered beamed ceilings in both rooms.
