Description
Wheatsheaf Farmhouse and the attached cowshed is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with an 18th-century addition and 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of red brick with brick dressings and features a steeply pitched plain tile roof, which has brick ridges and side wall stacks. The south gable has a high, steeply pitched brick coped gable that was originally for thatching. There is a plain band at the first floor level. The farmhouse is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with an additional bay to the north in a similar style, originally designed as a baffle entry plan. The north side has a wooden doorcase with a plank door, followed by a 20th-century casement window. On the south side, there are two similar 20th-century windows. Above these, there are two 19th-century timber casements and a blocked opening to the south. Attached to the north of the farmhouse is a single-storey 19th-century cowshed.
