Description

Bay Tree Farmhouse and adjacent pump. The farmhouse dates to the 17th century with later 18th-century additions, and was altered in the late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with brick dressings and stone sills, with a plain tile roof and a large brick ridge stack. Three half dormers are set into the western roof slope. The farmhouse has three bays and one and a half storeys. The front has a segment-headed doorcase flanked by 2-light casement windows with glazing bars, also set under segment heads. To the north is a timber-framed bay with brick infill and a small, segment-headed casement window. Above, further glazing bar casement windows are found in three timber-framed half-attic dormers. To the south of the west facade is a late 19th-century pump with a weatherboarded stem, an iron handle to the north, and a stone trough to the east, which remains functional. The building is included on the list for group value.
