Description

This is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with substantial alterations around 1700 and in the 18th century, and minor 20th-century additions. It is constructed of red brick with a pantile roof and features a single ridge and two gable stacks. The brick coped gables have kneelers. It is two storeys high and has an L-shaped layout, with the earlier range facing north. The east front includes a projecting gabled wing to the north, featuring a large sash window with glazing bars on the ground floor, a 2-light casement window above that, and a blocked window above that. To the right of the north wing is a six-panel door with a reeded door surround. To the left are two 3-light sliding sashes with glazing bars on the ground floor, two smaller sliding sashes above them, and a 3-light casement window above those. A recessed extension to the left has a single-storey lean-to with a doorway and a single-light casement window. Above the lean-to is a 2-light casement window, and another similar window above that. Inside, you can find chamfered spine beams and various original plank doors. The northwest corner room has timber posts, believed to be part of an original timber-framed building. The roof of the north range retains many original trusses, purlins, and the ridge piece.
