Description
The Rectory is a late 17th-century rectory with significant alterations from the early and some later 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with some rubble and ashlar and has a plain tile roof, hipped on the right side of the garden front. Two rendered ridge stacks are present and a single large external stack is incorporated into the third bay from the left, which has a rubble plinth. The building is two storeys high and six bays wide. The front elevation features a small fixed window, a tripartite glazing bar casement, a single glazing bar casement, a doorway with a part-glazed door and trellis porch, a projecting 19th-century bay constructed of brick and ashlar with two sashes facing forward and smaller sashes in each side wall, and a single glazing bar sash. Above, the windows comprise a tripartite casement under a segmental arch, a single glazing bar sash, a glazing bar casement set into the corner of the stack, and three large glazing bar casements. A single-storey outbuilding is set back on the left side. The east side, with three bays and a ridge stack, also includes a projecting 19th-century bay and a single glazing bar sash. Above this are two similar sashes with a single painted sash to the left. The interior includes reused early 17th-century panelling in the entrance corridor and a single room on the first floor with a small, bolection-moulded fireplace. The building is included on the list solely for its group value.
