Description
The Pigeoncote at Manor Farm, built in 1677 and restored around 1980, was constructed for the Sacheverell family. It is made of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a pyramidal plain tile roof with a wooden and plain tile glover, providing entrances for birds. The building has a raised eaves band with an ashlar band extending underneath and is octagonal in shape, standing one and a half storeys tall.
On the west side, there is a raised doorway with a flush ashlar quoin surround and a plank door. The south side includes a single fixed light situated above the ashlar band. Inside, the cobbled floor remains, and most of the plaster nesting boxes, which originally covered the walls about one metre from the ground, are still present. A restored plaster crest can be found on the east side, and the interior doorway features a three-centred arched brick reveal. During the restoration, an interior nesting box was discovered with the inscription "1677 WS."
