Description
This pair of table tombs, dating from the early 18th century, is located 13 yards south of the porch of St Chad's Church in Longford. They are made of sandstone. The tomb on the west features a plain base with pilasters at the corners and the center of the long sides. The north side of this tomb has an inscription that reads, "Here lyeth the body of Joseph Tatlow, who departed this life Feb 25 Anno Dom 1712." Above this inscription is a plain slab with moulded sides. The adjacent tomb to the east also has a plain base, but its west end features a skeleton in a semi-circular headed niche, while the east end displays an angel's head with wings on either side. The north side of this tomb has an inscription, but it is too worn to be legible. These tombs are included for their group value.
