Description
The summer house, located on the site of a former swimming pool on Belle Vue Road, dates from the late 18th century. Originally situated in the garden of No. 49 Church Street, it was later repurposed to house equipment for a nearby disused swimming pool. The structure is made of brick and stone, topped with a tiled roof. The alcove arch is now blocked by a 20th-century brick addition. On either side of the alcove arch, there are brick pilasters, and above the arch, a two-course brick band and parapet can be found. The pilasters feature moulded stone cornices that are connected by a plain stone parapet coping. The exterior of the apse displays corbelled and dog-toothed brick eaves set on a battered base. Behind the 20th-century addition, the outer alcove arch springs from moulded stone imposts. Inside, the plain brick alcove contains a filtration plant.
