Description
Knowl House and its outbuildings are a farmhouse dating from the 17th century and later. The structure is built of coursed rubble gritstone with ashlar dressings, topped by a tiled roof and featuring a brick ridge stack. The house is double fronted and has attached former outbuildings that share the same roof to the north-west. It stands two storeys tall, with a 19th-century brick wing at the rear.
The 17th-century part of the house features a central doorway with stone quoins, a lintel dated 1694, and a dripstone. This doorway is flanked by two 2-light flush stone mullion windows, with two similar windows located above. The house also has flush stone quoins. The outbuildings exhibit irregular fenestration, including one 17th-century 2-light chamfered mullion window and another 17th-century 2-light chamfered mullion window with a dripmould in the south gable.
