Description
Old Hall is a house built in 1611, constructed from coursed gritstone and ashlar. It features stone coped gables with kneelers and ball finials, and has a good mid-19th century patterned tiled roof with four central brick stacks grouped together. The building is designed in a T-plan and is two storeys high.
The south front has a central doorway with a chamfered stone surround and a dripmould, flanked by two 1960s three-light flush stone mullion windows. On the first floor, there are two similar three-light windows and a single rectangular light above the doorway. The east gable end features moulded stone window surrounds with dripmoulds on both the ground and first floors, each now fitted with wooden casements. There is a blocked single light window in the gable.
On the west gable end, there is a 17th-century three-light chamfered stone mullion window with a dripmould. The rear wall at the west end of the main range has a two-light window, formerly mullioned, above with a similar window below, both with dripmoulds. The west front of the north wing has a stone doorcase with a chamfered surround and dripstone, along with a single light above. There are also two former three-light windows, one on each floor, with the mullions removed.
