Description
45 Low Pavement is a mid-18th century building with a notable facade. It features a painted brick exterior with a modillion eaves cornice, a blocking course that has moulded coping, and a ramped centre and ends. The roof has coped gable ends and end chimneys. The building stands three storeys tall and has three windows, which are sashes with glazing bars. The outer windows have gauged flat brick arches, while the centre window on the second floor has a moulded architrave with a keystone. The centre window on the first floor is adorned with a pediment and a moulded stone architrave that includes a pulvinated frieze and a triple keystone. There is a band at the first floor sill height. The ground floor features a modern shop front, and there is a carriageway arch on the eastern side of the facade, which was formerly used for access to the rear, set within a rusticated surround. The building also has a rear wing.
Inside, there is a staircase with a ramped handrail and plain balusters. The north room on the first floor has a moulded cornice and a moulded band under the window sills. There is a centre cupboard with fluted pilasters, and the doors and windows are framed with moulded architraves.
