Description
39 Low Pavement is a building dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features a painted brick facade with a parapet that has moulded coping and a slate roof. The building stands three storeys tall and has three windows. The second floor has modern glazing in former sash spaces, while the first floor has unbarred sash windows. Both floors are adorned with shallow segmental arches. The ground floor has an altered 19th-century shop front, which includes fluted and pedimented end consoles and pilasters, with the upper halves being fluted. Above the recessed central shop door, there is a panelled roof with a fanlight. The shop windows have a tiled base and are curved. There is an entrance on the eastern side leading to the former Brown's Yard at the rear, and a lower plastered two-storey rear wing.
