Description
The Town Pump is an early to mid-19th century structure, with a plinth that may be older. It features a cast iron pump with a large bowl set on a tall stone plinth. The plinth is octagonal and has four steps on the north side, while the south side is curved to accommodate the bowl. The pump housing is made of cast iron with a square section, panelled faces, and a pyramidal cap topped with a finial. The pump handle and spout are intact. The large painted cast iron bowl rises from the octagonal plinth and ribbed stem to a wide shallow bowl with a moulded base and edging. Notably, John Wesley spoke from "the town pump" in 1777.
