Description

The Forge is a toll house that has been converted into a private house, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and features a plain tile roof with a stone-coped gable on the south side. The building has a brick ridge and gable stack and stands two storeys tall.

The west elevation consists of three bays. There is an off-centre doorway with a stone lintel and a raised and fielded panelled door. This doorway is flanked on each side by glazing bar sash windows, which also have stone lintels, jambs, and sills. To the left of the doorway, there is a canted bay window with a flat roof and small pane glazing. On the first floor, there are two glazing bar sash windows set in stone surrounds.
