Description
Wakebridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1772, but it includes elements from an earlier house. It is built of ashlar gritstone rising from a shallow plinth, featuring quoins, coped gables with moulded kneelers, end ashlar stacks, and a stone slated roof. The house has a 'T' plan layout and is two storeys high with four bays, the western bay serving as an outhouse attached to the main range. It has stacked 2-light flush mullioned windows on either side of the central doorway, and a single light window with a flush surround above the doorway. Most windows have sash frames, except for some 20th-century joinery at the east end. The central doorway has a quoined surround with a moulded design and a four-centred arch above the lintel soffit. The door is six-panelled, with the upper two panels glazed, and there is a plaque above the doorway inscribed with "PNEQr 1772". Inside, there are several two-panel 18th-century doors, a staircase with splat balusters leading to the first floor, and a linenfold panelled door, which may be a remnant from Wakebridge Manor House that once stood on the site.
