Description

The Penfold post box at the National Tramway Museum is a Grade II listed structure designed by John Wornham Penfold and manufactured by Cochrane and Co. in Dudley, Birmingham, between 1872 and 1879. It is made of cast iron and has a hexagonal shape with a moulded plinth. The main front features an inset plate that states the times of collections, with a posting slot above it. The top of the box is moulded, slightly domed, and decorated with leaf motifs. Originally located in Wellington Street, Bradford, East Manchester, this post box was moved to its current location in 1969.
