MATLOCK ROAD Penfold Post Box at the National Tramway Museum

Penfold letter box designed by John Wornham Penfold and manufactured by Cochrane and Co., Dudley, Birmingham from about 1872-1879. Cast iron. Hexagonal in plan, with a moulded plinth. Main elevation has in set plate stating times of collections with above a posting slot. Moulded and slightly domed top with leaf decoration. This box was originally situated in Wellington Street, Bradford, East Manchester, and removed to its present site in 1969.
