Description
The Derwent Hotel is a public house built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone and features plain gables, with both intermediate and gable brick stacks, and roofs that are covered with Welsh slate and tiles. The building has an irregular plan consisting of two linked ranges, one of which is set back.
The south elevation of the west range is two storeys high and has three bays. It includes a canted west gable and a doorway located at the east end, which has a quoined surround and a shallow bracketed hood. The entrance features a six-panel door, with the upper two panels being glazed. The windows are stacked glazing bar sashes with plain heads and cills.
The east range is also two storeys and has three bays, featuring stacked glazing bar sashes with plain heads and cills. There is a central doorway with massive jambs and a lintel, which also has a six-panel door.
