Description

This building is a house located 25 metres to the west of the Yew Tree Inn, dating from the mid-18th century but incorporating elements from a 17th-century structure. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with ashlar dressings, featuring quoins, coped gables with moulded kneelers, and end brick ridge stacks. The roof is covered with interlocking concrete tiles.

The house has three storeys and three bays. Originally, it had stacked 2-light flush mullioned windows in the outer bays and in the centre bay on the first and second floors. However, the mullions have been removed from the south-west bay and from the ground floor window at the north-east end. The building includes two single light windows with massive quoins and a lintel, along with a 20th-century glazed door. This doorway is now enclosed by a 20th-century half-glazed porch. There are plain bands at the heads of the ground and first-floor windows, which step around the door lintel. The cills of the second-floor windows were originally positioned on top of the first-floor band but have been raised with infill stonework added.

The plan form and main elevation closely resemble those of Dial Farm in Crich, which is noted for its group value context. The attached lower cottages to the south-west are not included in the listing.
