Description

This is a house, originally a single cottage, dating to the 17th century. It is situated on Main Street, Preston, and was formerly listed as a cottage 20 yards south of Yewtree House. The building comprises two twin-gabled wings facing onto Main Street, with the front (number 12) being one-and-a-half storeys high. The front has two 3-light stone mullioned dormers in the attic. Above the ground floor windows are two 3-light stone mullioned windows. A central entrance is flanked by a classical wooden doorcase. The gables are coped, and there are two ashlar chimney stacks at the gable ends. The garden front (number 10) is two storeys high and features two three-light casement windows on the first floor. The ground floor has a stone window which has been filled in with rubble and altered to a 2-light casement. Ashlar quoins are visible, and there are two ashlar chimney stacks at the gable ends.
