Description

A farmhouse, dating from the mid-17th century, now divided into two dwellings and known as Yew Tree Farm. The house has a rendered plinth and large-timber framing with painted brick in a herring-bone pattern infill. The roof is of old plain tiles, with a brick ridge stack in the centre and a brick end stack to the two-storey cross-wing on the right. It was probably originally a lobby-entry plan. The facade is arranged with a three-window range and the cross-wing to the right. There is a two-panel door to the left of centre, sheltered by an open timber porch with a gabled roof of old plain tiles. To the right is a four-panel part-glazed door with a gabled hood of old plain tiles. A sixteen-pane unhorned sash window with shutters is to the left. An angled bay window, set on brackets and with a gabled roof of old plain tiles, is to the right of centre. A three-light wood casement window is located on the left return of the cross-wing. A three-light wood-mullioned window is on the first floor to the left of centre. Further angled bay windows, with leaded lights, are positioned to the left and right of centre. A wood-mullioned Ipswich window is on the left return of the cross-wing. Two cross-gables are hung with bands of shaped tiles, each with a two-light casement. Tile-hanging covers the gable-end of the cross-wing. The interior was not inspected. An attached wall is constructed from limestone rubble with a red brick facing in Flemish bond, featuring grey headers.
