Description
The Falcon Hotel is a building of group value, dating to the 17th and 18th centuries, with a front block rebuilt in the late 19th century in a 17th-century style. The front block is constructed of ashlar with paler stone dressings, and has a Collyweston stone slate roof, with stone ridge and end stacks. It is three lofty storeys high with an attic and features a balanced asymmetrical composition with three gables, the largest situated on the left. The windows are sash windows, with a two-storey canted bay to the right featuring mullioned and transomed windows. A central carriageway is now glazed, containing a Tudor arch set within a square surround with blind traceried spandrels. To the rear, earlier sections of the building retain mullion and transom windows in the west range, and 8/8 sash windows at first-floor level in the east range.
