Description
The Ridings is a house located on Seaton Moles Lane. The east wing was originally built in the 17th century but has undergone significant alterations in the 20th century. There is a single-storey extension from the 19th century at the northern end and a large block from the early 19th century to the west. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with limestone and ironstone quoins. The 17th-century wing features a Collyweston slate roof, while the 19th-century west block has been re-roofed with 20th-century tiles, maintaining coped gables and flanking ashlar chimneys.
The T-plan layout includes a two-storey 17th-century wing with a gabled projection to the south. The only remaining features from the 17th century are a blocked two-light window with an ovolo-moulded mullion on the east wall and a blocked chamfered single light on the west wall. The early 19th-century block is two storeys with an attic and consists of three bays. The southern front has barred wooden casements with wooden lintels, featuring a three-light window flanking a two-light window, with the lower left window altered in the 20th century. The attic windows are set in hipped dormers, and there is a central half-glazed door. The northern rear has similar irregular windows and a central door.
