Description
The Manor House is a house built in the mid to late 17th century, with an early 19th-century rear wing designed to match the original style, and an attached mid to late 19th-century dairy. The building features coursed limestone rubble with limestone window dressings, a Collyweston slate roof, coped gables, and ashlar chimneys. It is arranged in an L-plan and has two storeys and an attic, with a three-bay front.
The front of the house includes ovolo-moulded mullion windows with richly moulded cornices, featuring three-light windows in the outer bays and a two-light window above the door in the centre. To the left of the door is a re-sited single light window with an ovolo-moulded ironstone surround, originally located in the rear wall. The door itself is a six-panelled design with glazed top-lights and a rectangular fanlight, all set in a moulded stone surround with a cornice.
The chimneys include one with a single shaft and no cornice to the left, and another with a pair of shafts and a cornice located at the rear of the right bay. The right gable features richly moulded crow-stepped coping and a small panelled finial with a cornice and ball. The windows below this gable are similar to those on the front, with three-light windows on the ground floor and attic, and a four-light window on the first floor.
The 19th-century rear wing has one bay of three-light windows and a two-light window above a flush-panelled door leading to a passage. The later 19th-century dairy has a segmental-headed door and window. There is also a narrow 20th-century brick extension in the rear angle. Inside, the upper right room contains a good moulded and stopped stone fireplace with a cornice, while another stone fireplace with a four-centred arch, which is not original to the house, has been re-sited in the ground floor left room.
