Description
The Manor House is a manor house dating to 1687, with very limited external alterations since that time. It is constructed of coursed rubble, with a stone-tiled roof. The main west-facing front is two stories high and five bays wide, arranged as a 1:3:1 composition, with projecting hipped gabled wings on either side. The central range features a central doorway with a lugged moulded architrave, bearing the carved initials "T over C D" within a laurel wreath, marking the date 1687. Flanking this are mullioned and transomed windows with ovolo mouldings, with three more mullioned and transomed windows above. Each projecting wing has a mullioned and transomed window to each floor; the ground floor window on the left wing has been partially cut through to create a doorway, and another window beside it features a chamfered timber lintel. A doorway with chamfered timber lintels is present in the right-hand wing. The inner faces of the wings have stone mullioned windows. A projecting string course runs along the facade, topped by a moulded eaves cornice. Large quoins mark the corners of the building. The street facade incorporates renewed wood mullioned and transomed windows on each floor, and there are various other mullioned windows to the rear. Axial stacks are topped with ashlar bands.
