Description
No. 4 London Road is a house that has been converted into workshops for Uppingham School. It dates from the 18th century and is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble with ashlar dressings and a brick gable on the south side. The roof is made of Collyweston stone slate, featuring a coped gable at the north end and brick stacks at the ends. The building has two storeys and a single-fronted main block. The entrance door is located to the left and has a fanlight above it. To the right of the door, there is a four-light casement window with overlights and a cambered head that has a flush keystone. Above this, there is a similar three-light window. The lower block to the south includes 19th-century sash windows on both the ground and first floors. At the rear, there is a wing that was extended in the 19th century, which is lit by three-light casement windows with leaded panes.
