Description

The monument to John Beaver is located in the churchyard and dates from the late 17th century. It is made of stone and features an inscription that reads, "Here lies John Beaver that honest man which stood up for the Common of Uppingham Died November the 11 1682." John Beaver served as Overseer to the Poor and to the Highways and was known for opposing efforts to encroach upon the common land used by the people of Uppingham.
