Description
The gate piers and garden walls at the front of the Manor House date from around 1691. The pair of gate piers are made of rusticated limestone ashlar and are square in plan, featuring side pilasters, moulded bases, cornices, and ball finials. The rustication of the piers matches the quoins of the 1691 wing of the house. It is noted that the piers were likely moved in the 20th century from a previous location nearby. The garden walls may be of a later date, but the wall on the right includes some masonry from the demolished 16th to 17th century front wing of the house. The walls are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with flat stone coping, and they ramp up to the piers. A short return at the right end still shows the moulded stone jambs of a former fireplace.
