Description
56 High Pavement is a town house that was formerly St Mary's Vicarage and is now used as offices. It dates from the mid 18th century and underwent alterations in the mid and late 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with painted ashlar dressings and has a concrete tile roof. It features a plinth, a first-floor sill band, a moulded eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The structure has three storeys and a five-window range. The windows are glazing bar sashes with brick flat arches, with the central bay's windows having moulded surrounds, while the third-floor windows are smaller. There is a central 19th-century stucco doorcase with a cornice on brackets, a panelled door, and an overlight. To the left, there is a late 19th-century carriage opening with a brick and stone surround and a pair of wrought-iron gates. This building was converted into a lace warehouse in the mid 19th century.
