Description
This is an early 18th-century house, later used as workrooms, which has been altered in the mid- and late 19th century and restored in the late 20th century. It is constructed of red brick with painted ashlar dressings, a concrete tile roof, and four brick gable stacks. The house has a rendered plinth and stands three stories high with a two-window front.
The building follows a double-range plan. The front facade features two wooden cross casements with panelled wedge lintels and double keystones on the upper floors, and two plain sashes with wedge lintels and keystones on the ground floor. A wooden doorcase with a pediment, moulded four-panel doors, and a fanlight are found on the left side of the ground floor. The right return displays a central four-panel door with a single window on each floor above, a round-arched window on each floor to the left, and two plain sashes to the right. The rear of the house features a round-arched stair window flanked by plain sashes, and two 18th-century glazing bar casements above.
Inside, the original wooden dogleg staircase retains turned balusters and a ramped, scrolled handrail. Ground-floor rooms are characterised by six-panel doors.
