Description

This is a former lodge built around 1832-34 by TC Hine of Nottingham for the 4th Duke of Newcastle as part of an initial plan to develop the Park Estate. The building, now a detached basement to Walton's Hotel, is constructed of rockfaced stone and ashlar, with an earth-covered roof. It features a plinth, a moulded string course, a coped parapet with terracotta roundels, and windows that are currently boarded.

The lodge is single-storied and comprises three bays. It partly functions as a retaining wall supporting the bank at a road junction. The left side features a projecting round bay with three windows, and a door faces North Road. The Derby Road front has a central round-arched window, a window to the left, and another door to the right.

The interior includes brick jack arches carried on cast-iron beams.
