Description
Westbury House and the adjoining boundary wall are located on Derby Road in Nottingham and were built around 1830. The building is constructed of stucco, with roofs that are not visible. It features two coped stucco ridge stacks, a plinth, quoins at the ground floor, a first floor band, an eaves cornice, and a coped parapet. The windows are primarily original glazing bar sashes with moulded architraves. The house is two storeys plus attics and has a layout in the shape of an L, with three windows across the front and six down the sides.
The street-facing side has a projecting center that includes a canted bay window with three sashes, supported by Ionic columns and a pierced balustrade. Above this bay window is a sash with a cornice, and above that, a dormer with a pediment. The side bays each have a sash with an eared architrave, and above them are sashes with cornices and balustraded balconies, with dormers above those.
Each return of the building features a central doorcase with Ionic columns and an entablature, leading to a round-arched doorway with a panelled door, flanked by sashes. Above the doorcases are three sashes with cornices and balustraded balconies. The left return has a rear wing that is two storeys high, with three sashes on each floor, the first floor sashes having cornices.
Adjacent to the left return is a boundary wall made of coursed squared stone, topped with slab coping and square piers. The wall has an off-centre opening and rounded corners.
