Description

This is a pair of early 19th-century houses with attached railings and a boundary wall, located on the south side of Derby Road in Nottingham. The houses are constructed of stucco with a slate roof and a central, corniced chimney stack, designed in a Classical Revival style. They feature dentillated eaves, a blocking course, and pediments. Each house is two storeys plus a basement and garrets, with a two-window front. A two-storey, square porch is centrally positioned on the gable end of each house, featuring a panelled double door flanked by pilasters. Above the door is a glazing bar sash window and, above that, a six-pane sash window set within a pediment. Number 123 has an additional lean-to porch and a garret window. The street front of both houses has two glazing bar sash windows on each floor, and the basement has two windows, one of which has been renewed. A boundary wall runs across the street front, surmounted by an original wrought-iron railing. At each end of the wall are gate piers with pyramidal caps, and the gates have been renewed.
