Description

Two town houses, now offices, dated 1820 and restored around 1990. The buildings are stucco-faced with a slate roof. They feature a moulded cornice and blocking course. The windows are glazing bar sashes with moulded surrounds, arranged in graduated courses.

The front facing Newcastle Terrace is three storeys high and has a 1:4:1 window arrangement. A projecting central section features cornices over the ground floor windows and a second-floor sill band. The side bays have porches supported by Tuscan columns, with balcony railings covering half-glazed doors and overlights. Above the porches are round-arched windows, topped by smaller windows.

The Ropewalk front, also three storeys plus a basement, has a 1:1:2:1 window arrangement. A projecting centre features a pediment containing relief decoration and the date. The basement has four windows in the centre. The ground floor has two tripartite windows; the upper floors have two windows each. The side bays have single windows, with an additional recessed bay to the left featuring a single window in a plain opening.

The interior includes a wooden dogleg staircase with a cast-iron balustrade, several original six-panel doors, and moulded cornices.
