Description
The gateway and boundary wall at the Memorial Nurses' Home, built between 1921 and 1923 by the architectural firm Evans, Cartwright & Woollett of Nottingham, is a notable structure. The boundary wall is constructed of red brick, featuring moulded brick coping and square brick piers topped with ashlar cornice caps. It runs approximately 50 meters along King Charles Street, creating a shallow recess. At the north end, there is a gateway with wrought-iron double gates and a side gate, supported by openwork cast-iron piers. On the south side, three panels of matching railing are complemented by brick piers. This structure is included for its group value.
