Description
This is a house, dating to around 1820, which has been altered in the mid-19th century and late 20th century and is now used as offices. The building is constructed of red brick with painted ashlar dressings and a slate roof, featuring two reduced gable stacks. It has a plinth, a first-floor sill band, and a renewed wooden eaves cornice with modillions. The building is three storeys high, with a symmetrical three-window front. The ground floor has twelve-pane sashes, all with wedge lintels and double keystones. Above these are three further nine-pane sashes. A central ashlar doorcase features a round arch and keystone, leading to a moulded six-panel door and fanlight. Either side of the doorway are 19th-century plain sashes, with beaded panelled shutters (the one on the right being renewed). The right return elevation, facing Rutland Street, has a gable to the left and two round-arched plain sashes on the lower floors and a single sash above. To the right of the gable is a segment-arched doorway with a round-arched sash above it. Further to the right are three 18th-century glazing bar sashes on the ground floor and two on each of the floors above.
